Anyone who watches my gallery can notice I'm a big fan of Tolkien and medieval manuscripts, but...
No, I don't like the film at all. I have grown with these books, and can't stand gay portraits of the characters, or Tolkien manga, or people who is not creative enough to portrait their own images but drawing Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom or Elijah Wood.

The Noldor are black haired & grey eyed, and their swords are straight. Dwarfs are strong but not swollen, and all the characters fight with weapons that a living thing can manage. Tolkien landscapes are not made in flashy colors, but in melancholic or serene  tones. Orcs aren't green, and Sméagol is not a monster, only a very disgraceful hobbit. Frodo and Sam relationship is not the whinning/gay thing of the films, but the old british one of master and servant. Tolkien didn't put so many female characters, so anyone who wants a politically correct point of view should write his own story.

My son turned 2 last November, and has a lovely 75th anniversary edition of 'The Hobbit' - in english; I'm spanish and my wife is british - and I/she would read it to him for not to kill his imagination.

It's supposed that as a Tolkien fan I should be happy with the films, but I'm not happy at all. In fact, sometimes I wish they weren't made at all.

Sorry about the length of this (and if you've read this already!), but its the most thorough deconstruction of the so-called 'virtues' of the movie-LotR. If you enjoy it, let me know and I'll paste the follow-up RotK review. Also, I'm really honoured by your mentioning me above - thanks a lot!
